DESCRIPTION:

Highly acclaimed, owner-operated restaurant and specialty market in the heart of a historic neighborhood in Tucson, Arizona is seeking a Head Chef to lead their team and continue to elevate this unique and exciting concept. The Head Chef will be responsible for managing the menu and operating costs while supporting the BOH team of twenty including line cooks, prep cooks, dishwashers, and production cooks (retail production for the Market). The casual, full-service restaurant is supported by other components on site: a bread and Viennoiserie bakery, a local and organic produce department, a specialty gourmet market and an exceptional wine shop. REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants with the following strengths will be the strongest candidates for hire:

  • Must have two or more years’ experience in a Senior Chef position
  • Competency in costing and inventory is required
  • Track record of team building – confident, inspiring teaching skills through modeling and presence on the line; understands the value of building culture and raising people up
  • Genuine love for the industry - a depth of understanding about how magical the restaurant business can be, and a strong desire to craft it despite challenges; the necessary humility and curiosity to keep learning
  • Energetic - knows how to make the most of high-volume line work in an open kitchen
  • Resourceful - makes time for needed research or strategizing and brings suggestions and recommendations to owners and peers as needed; tenacious and driven
  • Aesthetic and analytical strengths - can see what separates good from amazing, and enjoys critical thinking, feedback, and the process of creating
  • Adept collaborator - able to find solutions with other managers and consider varied ways to fulfill the mission and/or take the game to the next level
  • Seasoned and mature communicator - knows when to address something on the fly and when to have a bigger conversation; has a track record of maintaining positive relationships across a diversity of people/personalities; uses the appropriate provided systems for reviews and documentation when managing the BOH team
  • Maintains high standards as a professional – built to execute at work in an ethical way only, works with integrity
  • Highly organized individual
