Ruse is seeking an experienced General Manager. The General Manager will be responsible for spearheading the service and operations of Ruse. This is a creative, independent, hands-on position that will lead the entire front of house team. The GM will continue to create a comfortable, professional, and welcoming restaurant. They will work closely with the Executive Chef, Hotel GM, and Food and Beverage Director to ensure the delivery of a quality product, to meet or exceed financial goals, and to create and foster a happy and well-cared for team. The ideal candidate is a born leader with a passion for food, beverage, and hospitality

Responsibilities include –

Manage day-to-day operations of Ruse

Oversee performance and development of service team, directly managing Servers, Bartenders, and FOH Support Staff

Create an inspiring and healthy/happy work environment for team

Hands-on participation in service; coach team members on executing quality service experiences

Ensure all employees have full product knowledge

Coordinate with the BOH managers and hotel for private events

Follow established and proper accounting procedures

Maintain recruiting, hiring, and onboarding procedures for restaurant

Develop weekly staff schedule based on team availability and business needs

Identify development areas for staff and lead continuing education, skill refinement, and career development efforts

Lead and participate in weekly management meetings

Hold annual one-to-one staff meetings to establish and monitor targets and achievements

Monitor staff’s appearance, attitude, and degree of professionalism

Meet or exceed financial obligations as outlined in budget. Help to implement annual budget

Manage all FOH labor costs and implement necessary changes

Maintain a well-organized FOH department with exceptional safety protocols and sanitation practices

Develop maintenance schedules

Create and grow service standards and procedures

Oversee reservations system and private bookings – monitor and adjust as needed for optimized seating. Update guest database with preference records of regular guests

Bar ordering and bi-weekly inventory

Job Requirements Include –

Minimum of 2 years’ experience leading a restaurant team in a similar role

Degree in hospitality management from an accredited program is a plus

Excellent reading, written, and oral proficiency in English. Spanish is a plus

Strong, outstanding management and teaching abilities

Passion for high-quality, artisanal, locally produced, and seasonal ingredients

Understanding of budget, food/labor cost, and cost management

Exceptional organizational and time management skills

Ability to perform work at a high level of quality and precision

Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times

High energy, enthusiastic, and service-oriented personality

Communicate clear and concise verbal and written instructions

Work well under pressure. A calm problem-solver in a fast-paced environment

Ability to stand and work for shifts of 8+ hours

Available to work holidays and weekends to cover shifts as necessary

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Excellent computer literacy in standard Microsoft Office Suite software
