Creative, hospitality driven non-profit is seeking an Executive Chef for their new restaurant and gathering space opening in Summer of 2023 for a close-
knit community in Bovina, NY. Nestled in the Delaware River Valley just north-west of the Catskills, this region is ripe with farmers markets, agricultural ventures and creative endeavors. Food will be comfort-focused using produce, meat and
dairy sourced directly from our region in Delaware County, NY.
Seeking an Executive Chef with strong culinary experience and the right personality to
cultivate the concept with positive energy while overseeing all aspects of BOH operations to high-quality standards to create the foundation for a warm, welcoming and well-run space. They will work closely with the General Manager to ensure smooth operations and delivery of quality food and beverage service in addition to fostering a well-cared for team. Qualifications and Responsibilities:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in restaurant culinary operations
NYS Food Handler’s Certification
Possess a strong knowledge of culinary methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
Detail oriented with a sense of urgency
Self-starter and problem solver
Clear and up-front communication
Foster a healthy and inspiring work environment for all members of staff
Opening and Closing managerial duties/administrative tasks
Ability to lead a team and delegate responsibilities
Experience with hiring, overseeing and setting work schedules for BOH staff
Train all kitchen staff re: their specific duties and oversee recipes, required cooking
techniques, skills and all culinary preparations.
Ability to manage unanticipated situations such as equipment breakdowns, staff no-shows and/or product shortages.
Manage food costs by creating relationships with local vendors and specialty purveyors to select appropriate items at reasonable pricing.
Create and maintain an organized inventory and accounting system for BOH food and
supplies.
Develop a menu in accordance with owners’ expectations.
Troubleshoot challenging situations as they arise with grace and respect
Passion and appreciation for the hospitality industry
Ensure compliance with health codes and regulations
Excellent reading, written and oral proficiency of English.
