DESCRIPTION:

New York City based hospitality company is seeking a Director of Operations that will oversee all business and operations for our 4 iconic, neighborhood restaurants. The position directly oversees the General Managers while working closely with a wide range of directors, senior culinary leadership, and managers across the company and ultimately reports to the Chief Operating Officer. This is a critical leadership role in the company, requiring the highest standards of performance to provide an internal role model and example of the company’s values. The position is responsible for ensuring that the restaurants comply with all laws and achieve both financial and qualitative performance targets, positioning our restaurant group for continued long-term growth. Must be highly organized with excellent communication and collaboration skills, strong financial acumen with clear and concise decision-making skills and excellent interpersonal and development skills. 
**MUST HAVE NEW RESTAURANT OPENING EXPERIENCE**

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Principal Duties and Essential Responsibilities: 

Operations – leading the restaurant operations teams to achieve sales and employee performance targets and champion key initiatives including Operational Excellence
Facilities Management - manage third party Facilities Management team and work with operators to ensure DOH compliance where maintenance is concerned as well as developing systems to minimize repairs and maximize longevity of FF&E
Human Resources – work in partnership with the People Partner to build high performing teams, develop employee careers and champion key initiatives including Employer Branding while ensuring general legal compliance at all levels including payroll and benefits administration, recruiting and onboarding of new employees, and more.
Financial Performance – ensuring the businesses achieve financial targets by implementing and executing expense controls and cash management systems
Marketing & Events – overseeing store-level marketing and collaborating with Marketing, Guest Relations and Events Departments to achieve sales goals and champion key initiatives 
Compliance - ensuring each business is operating in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws while honoring all landlord, vendor and neighbor agreements
Strategy & Planning - assist in quarterly strategic planning, new business development and developing a professional network to advance business interests Operations
Management - Directly managing the GM’s and directors to achieve their qualitative and financial performance targets by coaching them to master hospitality business management
- Holding weekly one on one meetings with direct reports
- Work in tandem with Executive leadership team to oversee successful new location openings from conception to opening
- Direct and coordinate the activities of the project, construction, and operations teams to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget
- Assist with recruiting and training efforts to ensure a high performing team is compiled at each new location
- Lead training efforts and develop relationships with team members to foster internal growth and development
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, potentials, contractors, vendors, and other third parties involved to foster future new opportunities as they arise
Facilities Management
-Manage the third party facilities management team together with the on site maintenance team to ensure repairs and maintenance are prioritized and within budget
- Continue to develop and champion systems to minimize repairs and maximize longevity of FF&E
- Champion the goal of maintaining a top notch facility that complies with all state, local, and federal laws including safety and department of health requirements. The restaurants are expected to receive and maintain an “A” grade from the department of health at all times.
Human Resources
- Work with People and operations teams to recruit, develop and retain high performing hospitality teams, while developing a pipeline of talent to support business growth
- Help develop and oversee all FOH and BOH training programs
- Champion internal promotion and career development of high performing team members
- Champion key HR initiatives including Employer Branding initiatives
- Ensure 100% labor law compliance at every level
Financial Performance 
- Working with GM’s, FOH Managers, and BOH Management to achieve financial goals including sales, comps, bev cost, payroll, operating expenses
- Ensuring accurate reporting and asset protection by overseeing Accounting Workbooks, weekly beverage and monthly supplies inventories
- Ensuring best possible pricing by negotiating company-wide vendor agreements whenever possible
- Implementing expense management systems to reduce costs in line with business needs
- Working with Controller to manage cash, through management of Cap Ex, Food and Beverage inventories, Purchasing
Marketing & Events
- Working with restaurant operators and Marketing, Guest Relations and Events Departments to drive revenue growth and achieve targets
- Develop and lead store-level marketing initiatives
Compliance
- Work in collaboration with HQ Coordinator to ensure all licenses and permits are in good standing while overseeing systems to ensure all operating policies and performance comply with all local, city, state and national laws, including the following;
- Federal government- ADA, discrimination, workplace harassment
- NY Department of Labor – minimum wage, over time, 80/20, safe and sick pay
- DOH – food service license, DOH letter grade, cooling tower
- FDNY – ansul permit, open flame permit, fire-treated fabrics permit, sprinkler
- SLA – liquor and beer/wine licenses
- DCA – sidewalk café permits
- DOB – Certificates of Occupancy, Public Assembly, equipment use permits
- CB2 - Cafe Stipulation Agreements for side-walk cafes, and garden use
Strategy & Planning 
- Collaborate with other department directors and Managing Member to develop and execute Quarterly Strategic Meetings
- Developing a professional network to advance company business interests, from recruiting, to commercial partnerships, to real estate opportunities to capital raising.
